Lady Isabella dedicated her life to finding remedies for people’s everyday problems.

The graphic novel  is and historical fiction about an alchemist woman. Lady Isabella’s Secrets is a series of short stories, “White like a jasmine flower”, “Ancient Cinnabar” and “Like smoke in the wind” that narrates the adventures of Lady Isabella Cortese, an alchemist living in the mid-16th Century who authored a unique compendium of alchemy recipes. 

The illustrated story is based on a real compendium of recipes from the time and set against the backdrop of sixteenth century Rome during the Counter Reformation. Although simple recipes aimed to provide remedies for the everyday problems of ordinary people, Isabella’s preparations were considered highly suspect by the Church authorities. The stories illustrates Italian renaissance life and especially those of women.
Will she be able to continue her work despite mounting pressure from the Church authorities?
