This is me

aka Virva E. Auvinen. I was born in Helsinki, Finland. I graduated 1999 from the University of Helsinki as an art historian and 2010 graduated from department of New Media Design and Production at the University of Art and Design of Helsinki 2010.

After living for 14 years in Bologna, Italy, where I worked in IT and attended several comic book creation courses, I moved to Berlin 2011 where I live with my family and work as a digital designer and visual storyteller.

Visual storyteller

I love to discover stories about people, especially about women.
I work mainly on subjects that let people discover, with a smile, worlds that are difficult to grasp. I research historical documents and open the curtains to the parallel situations that people had back in the days and today, narrowing down the threshold to understand better diverse life situations in different historical contexts. I draw my inspiration for my illustrated stories from both the past and the present, capturing the feel of everyday life down the centuries. Learn More

Digital product designer

I prefer to work with complex systems and find simple solution to hard problems. And most of all, I enjoy to decrease users pain when they use any digital device. My design follows value sensitive and human-centric design principles. I create design vision & strategy for the product and guide the design and product teams from concept creation to the final product release. Learn More
